DouDou Shop – Milano Marittima, Italy

The Dou Dou children’s clothing store is located in Milano Marittima, a city in the province of Ravenna. The intervention is an extension of the existing store into the space next to it and therefore the boundary walls between the two commercial spaces were demolished. The central pillar has been hidden by a large volume a “children’s house”, a metal carpentry structure covered in plasterboard and finished with a green color, whose pastel tone recalls the world of childhood. Entering on the right there is a long display shelf, recovered from the original store, at the center are tables for the display of folded clothing, and towards the end is the cash register. The composition is held together by a burnished sheet metal paneling, the material of the original shelving. The DouDou brand behind the cash register is made of brass. The Cash register is covered in sheet metal towards the customers whereas the operative side is in MDF. Continuing around the “children’s house” we find the hanger for garments for bigger kids, consisting of tubular profiles in burnished iron. A light is recessed in the hanging profile. In front of the hangers, a metal staircase rises inside the “children’s house”. Next to the stair is a dressing room, dug out of the volume of the house itself and hidden by a linen curtain. A second reclaimed shelf runs through the entire left side of the shop. The oak wood floor of the original store has been maintained, while in the new extension the floor is resin with a concrete finish. The walls have been painted a dark brown, along with the lowered ceiling that hides the concrete beams of the existing building structure.

Il negozio si trova a Milano Marittima, città in provincia di Ravenna. L’intervento è un ampliamento del negozio esistente. La proprietà ha acquistato lo spazio a fianco e sono dunque stati demoliti i muri di confine tra i due spazi commerciali. Il pilastro centrale è stato nascosto dalla “casetta dei bambini”, una struttura in carpenteria metallica rivestita in cartongesso e finita con un colore verde, il cui tono pastello richiama al mondo dell’infanzia. Entrando sulla destra si trova una lunga mensola espositiva, recuperata dal negozio originale, al centro i tavoli operativi in mdf per la mostra dei capi, in fondo il banco cassa. Tutta la composizione laterale è tenuta insieme da una boiserie in lamiera di ferro brunito, materiale di cui sono fatte le mensole espositive recuperate. Il marchio DouDou dietro il banco cassa è in ottone. Il Banco cassa è rivestito in lamiera dalla parte dei clienti, la parte operativa è in MDF. Proseguendo attorno alla “casetta dei bambini” troviamo l’appenderia per i capi fino a quattordici anni, composta da profili tubolari in ferro brunito. Nel profilo degli appesi è incassato una luce. Di fronte all’appenderia, una scala in lamiera sale all’interno della “casetta dei bambini”. Il percorso prosegue con un camerino di prova, ricavato nel volume della casetta stessa e celato da una tenda in lino. Una seconda mensola recuperata percorre l’intera parete sinistra del negozio. il pavimento in parquet all’ungherese del negozio originario è stato mantenuto, mentre nella nuova parte di ampliamento è stato sostituito il cotto esistente con una resina cementizia. Le pareti sono state dipinte di un marrone scuro, insieme con il nuovo controsoffitto che nasconde le travi in cemento della struttura dell’edificio.
